Dr. Michael D. Burroughs

Michael BurroughsDr. Michael D. Burroughs is Director of the Kegley Institute of Ethics and Associate Professor of Philosophy at California State University, Bakersfield. Michael holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Memphis and, before coming to CSUB, held academic and leadership appointments at the UNC-Chapel Hill Parr Center for Ethics and Penn State University Rock Ethics Institute. As Director of KIE, Michael oversees a wide range of ethics and public humanities programming. Michael also serves as Vice President of the Public Philosophy Network, a national organization that supports professional philosophers engaging with issues of public concern and collaborating with civic and professional communities. He is a widely-published scholar in the areas of ethics, ethics education, philosophy of education, and public philosophy, including a co-authored book (with Jana Mohr Lone) Philosophy in Education: Questioning and Dialogue in Schools (Rowman & Littlefield).
