Daniel Bernal

In his interview with Dr. Michael Burroughs, Daniel Bernal discusses his incarceration experiences and how his eighteen-year sentence affected his worldview. More specifically, he explains how an instance of self-reflection during a prolonged stay in solitary confinement led him to become more in-tune with himself and his emotions. Bernal also shares his post-incarceration experiences, such as his frustration navigating the new digital age and the pride he felt upon earning his G.E.D. It was these experiences that helped to keep him motivated in pursuing his occupational and educational goals.  Bernal mentions his involvement in giving back to his community  by mentoring troubled youth and through his affiliation with Project Rebound at California State University, Fullerton.
